Crispy Hot Honey Halloumi Flatbreads
🌶️ Crispy, Salty, Sweet, and Just a Little Spicy
Some recipes feel bigger than the effort they actually take.
This is one of those recipes.
Golden, crispy halloumi cheese layered onto warm flatbreads with peppery greens, fresh herbs, and a sweet-spicy drizzle that ties everything together.
It feels like something you’d order at a restaurant and immediately try to recreate at home.
The best part is that it’s surprisingly simple.
And the ingredient that really makes it work?
It brings a smooth, balanced heat that wakes up the creamy cheese and sweet honey without overpowering the rest of the dish.
Perfect for:
- Casual entertaining
- Patio dinners
- Appetizer spreads
- ...Or those nights when you want something a little more fun than the usual routine

🔥 The Shortcut to Better “Hot Honey”
You could absolutely make a separate hot honey sauce from scratch.
But Jalapeño Olive Oil simplifies the whole process while adding another layer of flavor at the same time.
It brings:
- A bright pepper flavor
- Gentle lingering warmth
- A smooth finish that works beautifully with rich cheese
Combined with honey, it creates a drizzle that tastes balanced, layered, and restaurant-worthy with almost no extra effort.
Why Halloumi Crisps Instead of Melts
Halloumi’s protein structure allows it to hold shape under high heat, which is why it becomes golden and crisp instead of melting completely.
That makes it one of the best cheeses for grilling and pan-searing.

Ingredients:
(This recipe makes 4 servings)
- 2 naan or flatbreads
- 8 oz halloumi cheese, sliced
- 2 Tbsp Jalapeño Olive Oil
- 3 Tbsp honey
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 2 cups arugula
- Fresh mint or basil
- Zest of 1 lemon
- Flaky sea salt
- Fresh cracked black pepper
- 1-2 Avocados (Smashed, Optional)
Instructions:
Act 1: Build the Heat
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey, Jalapeño Olive Oil, and red pepper flakes.
Warm gently until smooth and infused.
Act 2: Crisp the Halloumi
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
Sear halloumi slices for 2–3 minutes per side until deeply golden and crisp.

Act 3: Toast & Layer
Warm naan or flatbreads.
Top with arugula, herbs, avocado mash (optional), and crispy halloumi.
Act 4: Finish Like a Restaurant Dish
Drizzle generously with hot honey.
Finish with lemon zest, flaky salt, and black pepper.
Serve immediately.
Enjoy!
